Quick start
- Install A StandUp Bot from the Google Workspace Marketplace.

- Click Create Standup — at the next scheduled hour, the bot will post a check-in prompt in the space.
- Teammates click Check in, fill in their answers, and the response posts back as a card.
Frequently asked questions
Is my standup data private?
Yes. Standup configuration and check-in responses are stored only within Google's Apps Script infrastructure under your Google account. We don't access Gmail, Drive, Calendar, or any other Workspace data. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Why are scheduled times only available in whole hours?
Google Workspace Add-ons can't run time-based triggers more frequently than once per hour. So if a standup is scheduled for 9:00, it'll fire on the next hourly tick at-or-after 9:00 in its timezone — not exactly on the minute. This is a Google platform constraint.
Can I use it with a personal @gmail.com account?
No. Google Chat apps are only available to Google Workspace accounts. Personal @gmail.com accounts cannot install or use Chat apps.
How do I edit a standup?
Type /standup in the space, then click Edit next to the one you want to change. The same dialog you used to create it opens with all values pre-filled — change anything and click Save changes.
How do I see past check-ins?
Type /standup, click Results on a standup, pick the date you're interested in, and click Show results. You'll see every check-in submitted on that day.
What does anonymous mode do?
When anonymous is on, posted check-in cards say "Anonymous" instead of the submitter's name. Each user can still only update their own check-in (we identify them by Google account internally), but the public display is anonymized.
Can a person update their check-in after submitting?
Yes. Click Check in on the same day's prompt — your previous answers will be pre-filled, edit them, and click Update check-in. The response card in the space gets refreshed.
How long do check-in responses stick around?
Sixty days. After that, old check-ins are automatically purged to keep storage clean. Standup configurations themselves persist until you delete them from the /standup dialog.
How do I delete a standup?
Type /standup, click Delete next to it. The standup stops running immediately. Past check-in responses are removed from the storage on the next cleanup pass.
Does the bot work in a DM?
Technically yes — but standups are designed for shared spaces. In a DM the prompt would just go back to you. Add the app to a team space and invite the participants there.
