Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how A StandUp Bot ("we", "our", "us", or the "App") collects, uses, and protects information when you install and use the A StandUp Bot add-on for Google Chat.

1. Information We Collect​

1.1 Information you provide​

When you use the App, we process the following information:

  • Standup configuration — The standup name, the questions you write, the days of the week and hour the standup runs, and the timezone you select.
  • Check-in responses — The free-text answers each participant submits in response to a standup's questions.
  • Standup settings — Whether anonymous mode is enabled.

1.2 Information provided by Google Chat​

When you interact with the App, Google Chat provides:

  • Your display name — Used to label your check-in on non-anonymous standups.
  • Your Google account email — Used to associate a check-in with a person (so the same user can update their own answer rather than creating duplicates), and to scope standup management to its creator.
  • Space identifier — Used to post standup prompts and check-in cards back into the correct space at the scheduled time.

2. How We Use Information​

We use the information described above solely to:

  • Render the standup creation, edit, check-in, and results dialogs in Google Chat
  • Post the recurring standup prompt card to the configured space at the scheduled hour
  • Store and display each user's check-in answers for the dates they were submitted
  • Allow standup owners to view past results by date

We do not:

  • Sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing
  • Use your data for advertising
  • Train machine learning models on your content
  • Access Gmail, Drive, Calendar, or any other Google Workspace data

3. Data Storage​

  • Standup configuration is stored in Google Apps Script ScriptProperties, hosted by Google.
  • Check-in responses are stored in Google Apps Script ScriptProperties, hosted by Google.
  • All data lives inside the Apps Script project running under your Google account. We do not operate any external server that holds your standup or check-in data.

4. Data Sharing​

We do not share your data with any third party. All data is stored within Google's Apps Script infrastructure under your Google account.

5. Data Retention & Deletion​

  • Standup configuration persists until the standup is deleted from the /standup dialog.
  • Check-in responses are automatically purged 60 days after the date they were submitted.
  • Uninstalling the App does not automatically delete previously stored data; if you need full deletion, delete each standup from the /standup dialog before uninstalling, or contact us (see Support) for assistance.

6. Security​

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Data at rest is stored in Google's infrastructure and protected by Google's security measures.

7. Compliance with Google API Services User Data Policy​

The App's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

8. Children's Privacy​

The App is not intended for users under 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy​

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via the App listing. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
